Uniroyal Tiger Paw Touring Review: Bringing Your Ride Experience To The Next Level

It is not always easy and trouble-free to find a set of decent tires for all seasons. Sometimes, we spend so much time scrutinizing manufacturers and direct dealers about the right model. From torrential rain, muddy road, heavy snow, steaming hot weather, an ideal tire should withstand all these weather conditions. As the competition gets tighter, Uniroyal Tiger Paw Touring is one of the top product lines that is making an impression. As it claims to be one of the most affordable all-season tires available in the market, consumer’s attention keeps on increasing. Some have their own shares of a story about this particular model. To further determine whether or not it is the best tire for us to get on, this review will serve its purpose.

Company History

The United States Rubber Company or Uniroyal is an American manufacturer of tires and other related products. It was founded in Connecticut in 1892 and became one of the original twelve stocks in the Dow Jones Industrial Average. In 1990, it was acquired by a French tire maker, the Michelin. Today, the Michelin employs over 1000 employees in the US including the former employees of the Uniroyal. The company continues to strive and move forward with its slogan that says, “United States Tires are Good Tires.”

Quality Features and Attributes

Tru-Form Technology

As the company’s reputation to offer high-quality and long-lasting wear, this product line is so far acquired the longevity title. This is no longer surprising since the product has tread compounds with the combined power of its new technology to provide lasting wear. It also equalizes the stress on the tire’s contact patch that makes it more durable in the long run. Its solid shoulder structure and design also provide an excellent grip both on wet and dry pavements.

Four Circumferential Grooves

Another feature which I find to have a convincing function is its groove’s design. With its four circumferential grooves, it effectively makes way for water in terms of wet roadways. This structure excellently reduces the risk of hydroplaning and adds more confidence to the user to ride even on wet pavements. Its tread is also strategically designed to provide extra grip and responsive handling, especially when driving for snow-covered roads.

DuraShield Construction

Another in-house innovation and technology used for this model is its DuraShield Construction for its steel belts. I find the internal structure of this tire pretty impressive with its two-steel belts that add durability, dependability, and retreadability. What’s more alluring in this feature is that it comes with so much more function and benefits. Here are some of what I am talking about:

Pyramidical Steel Belt

The two steel belts which can be found inside have different widths. The on the bottom has a broader size however both reduces stress at the belt edges and promotes endurance. Furthermore, it is coated with a high natural rubber for better performance.

Insulating Belt Edge Strips

Another fascinating work of art for me is its all covered belt edge strips feature that works perfectly to help reduce stress. With this additional feature, belt edges enhance its puncture resistance.

Hefty Gauge Inner Liner

Inside the tire, you will notice the heavy liner which significantly contributes to the tire’s lasting life span. It functions by minimizing the oxygen penetration that may result in diminishing of the belt structure.

Pros:

  • Excellent traction in any weather conditions
  • Smooth and comfortable ride
  • Long lasting tread life
  • Durable, dependable, and retreadable
  • A universal tire that is almost compatible with all types of vehicles
  • Speed rate T, H, and V
  • Can bear inflation pressure
  • Can withstand a load of 1477 pounds
  • Affordable

Cons:

  • It is a bit noisy
  • It is not really that suitable for heavy winter or deep snow conditions

Overall Performance

This model is considered to be the best-known product line among all other products being manufactured by the company. Since it is the most popular product line, I am expecting so much about this model. True to its promise, its overall performance is quite impressive.  The handling is very responsive both in dry and wet pavements. The only area which I believe needs further improvement is during the winter season. Its grip does not perform that well during winter and snowy weather conditions, and it is also not recommended for deep snow.

Another issue I figured is its noise. Since this model lacks in noise suppressing technology, I think this is also one of the areas that the company needs to focus on. However, I don’t see it as a significant issue at all. Other than that, I don’t perceive anymore issue regarding this model.

The tread life is also another good thing about this model. It is long-lasting and has an adequate treadwear rating. It is as well very durable and can withstand inflation pressure. Its dependability is another thing too, and it perfectly suits for heavy loads. It has the capacity to carry around 1400 pounds.

In its totality, this model is a highly regarded one. It provides high performance and satisfactory driving experience for its user. This model also has a high compatibility rate that it almost fit and compatible with all types of vehicles.

Tread Life and Warranty

This model claims to have 70 000-mile tread warranty, and in addition to this, you will get a standard 6-year warranty. Seeing its tread pattern and structure, I believe that this number is achievable for their claim. Furthermore, this model uses a unique compound and combinations to support further and enhance its durability. I am therefore confident with its longevity and long life.

The center rib is another thing which should be inspected. With the DuraShield Construction technology, you don’t have to worry about changing tires anytime soon. It appears more durable and stronger when compared to other models and tires of its class.

Although this model is not so recommended for snowy regions, it is still equipped with cold inflation limit up to 35 PSI. Thus, it can even perform well with mild snow and soft cold temperature.

Final Verdict

After this review, I now see this model in a better light. Others regard it as a top-notch and high-performance tire that enhances your vehicle’s capacity. And I am proud to say I am among those ‘other’ who agrees that this tire deserves a slow clap. The best part of this model so far is its compatibility and flexibility when it comes to its size. It offers various sizes and to further amaze you; you can get it at a very affordable price. Thus, what else could you ask for?
